Well, maybe a lot of people experience this especially some employees or even students. (Just like me). I talked to some of my friends who are nocturnal also and they really hate it. I know it's a bit strange for me to say that there are good things about being nocturnal. A lot of people hate it because it ruins your body clock and how you function during the day. Well, I'm nocturnal. But I see this thing as a positive one since whenever I can't sleep, I think a lot. Many ideas come to my mind and eventually I get motivated to do things that I must do. Honestly, I'm more active and I can work well when I'm up late in the evening or dawn. So now, I would like to share to you on how I manage myself since I'm nocturnal.
Before I start with the good things about it, and what are the things I do that are very helpful for me, I would like to start on pointing out the bad things or effects that I encountered and you might also encounter it,
- Pimples - We love our faces so much where sometimes you hate when some zits come out on it. Sadly, when you can't sleep early, and you stay up too late, your face becomes oily and a lot of dirt will eventually come in to your pores and that's how pimples come out.
- Eyebags - We will look like pandas. But Pandas are cute don't worry. But sometimes, it makes us look old and stressed.
- Dizziness
- Get Fat/Thin - sometimes, when you stay up late, you're craving to eat some snacks (but honestly, it's a meal not a snack) but some people get thinner when they don't have enough sleep.
- You can't focus on your activities for the day - I sometimes experience this especially I'm a student and we need to be active in class, sometimes I get sleepy but I really try not to fall asleep during class.
- DURING THE DAY: More time to sleep than studying or doing your MUST-DO activities - Since you didn't sleep well, you always find time to sleep again and this will lessen your time on doing your school works etc.
- Ruined body-clock - if you get used to sleep late, you will eventually turn into a bad habit and it may cause a bad effect on your lifestyle.
- I'm productive - Well for me, I'm too productive every night when I can't sleep. I eventually do all the things that I must do since I have time to do it and that's one good thing to do when you can't sleep since it will lessen your burdens during the day.
- I'm active - I'm active at night. I always think a lot and many ideas always come up in to my mind since it's peaceful (for me) and the darkness sometimes help me to imagine things. (quite creepy tho)
- Some interesting stuffs are being uploaded every night - I'm fond of reading articles & blog posts, watching videos on Youtube and listening to music and some of the new and fresh stuffs like that are being posted or uploaded at night time that's why sometimes, I stay up late just to read, watch or listen to them you just need to explore and you'll learn from it.
- Late night shows - I really love late night shows because they're really entertaining and worth-watching because you can learn a lot. *For me, I always watch on TLC every night*
- Fast internet connection - I don't know why, but every night, I can really browse and download fast. maybe because less people are up at night to use the internet. it's a good thing tho.
- TRY: Drink a glass of milk - It's quite effective for me because I've been doing it since I was 5 years old and stopped when I grew old. But when I tried it again, it's great especially if it's warm. (Others prefer tea or coffee or even eating chocolates)
- TRY: Different sleeping position - Find the most comfortable position where you would actually feel sleepy fast.
- Turn off your Wi-Fi - When there's internet, you can't stay away with your gadgets.
- Stay away from your gadgets (phone, laptop, PC, Tablet, Ipad, TV) -any gadget, just stay away with them or turn them off because they're the top things that let's you stay up late. (No facebook, twitter, instagram, snapchat etc.)
- Wear a comfy sleeping clothes - Sometimes it affects on how you'll sleep well or comfortably.
- Eat enough food every meal (Don't skip) - When you skipped meals, sometimes you will wake up at night and find some food. This is also a bad habit since you will gain weight.
- Do a lot of good activities during the day - so you'll get tired and feel sleepy easily.
