I found myself crying while
watching the last two episodes of it. It was indeed a very great Korean drama
series. It was recommended to me by my best friend, as she told me about it’s
synopsis, we watched the series from Episode 1 to 8 until 6 in the morning. We
didn’t know that it was already 6 in the morning until my best friend checked
her phone and we still have class that day. Well, that’s a proof that it’s is a
very interesting Korean drama.
To give you a short background
about it, it is a story about “First love”. Kim Hye Jin was a very pretty girl
when she was still young and she met this cute chubby little guy named Ji Seong
Joon who lived beside their house (which was a former house of Hye Jin’s best
friend Min Ha Ri). Min Ha Ri and her family went to Japan and their house was
bought by Ji Seong Joon’s family. Kim Hye Jin was a very popular girl because
of her pretty face where she got it from her mom. When she saw Seong Joon being
bullied by her schoolmates, she helped Seong Joon and became best friends. But
eventually, Seong Joon and his family need to go to New York that’s why Seong
Joon left Hye Jin and kept a promise that they will see each other again in the
future to complete the puzzle. Seong Joon gave a piece of the puzzle to Hye Jin
as a sign that the puzzle will never be complete without the last piece (the
peeping girl). After a few years, puberty hits Hye Jin so bad where her face
and hair changed and looked like his father’s face and hair (which is quite
ugly). She is not that lucky in her career where she works as a waitress but
her ultimate dream was to be a children’s book writer someday. Suddenly, Jeong
Soon emailed Hye Jin that he will come to Korea and he would like to meet Hye
Jin. Jeong Soon is Hye Jin’s first love (same as Hye Jin to Seong Joon). That’s
why Hye Jin was too excited to meet Jeong Soon. When she was about to meet him,
she saw that Jeong Soon changed from a cute little chubby boy into a very tall
and good-looking guy and he didn’t even noticed Hye Jin. Hye Jin felt insecure
because she thought Jeong Soon is expecting that she looks very beautiful just
like before but puberty hits her bad. That’s why she decided to let Min Ha Ri
pretend to be her since Ha Ri is a very beautiful girl. Hye Jin became the
peeping girl (just like in the puzzle) watching her first love happy with the
thought that Kim Hye Jin is Min Ha Ri and the story goes on how the real Kim
Hye Jin tries to hide whenever she sees Jeong Soon in the company where she’s
an intern. Jeong Soon kept on belittling her for her clumsiness not knowing
that she’s his childhood bestfriend. Sooner, Kim Hye Jin met Kim Shin-Hyeok who’s
an editor on The Most magazine and became her best friend and soon fell in love
with her.
I don’t want to spoil everything
about the series but all in all it was really great. It really shows the
insecurities that some of the women out there (to be honest, I’m one of those)
might have. I can really relate to Kim Hye Jin’s personality. She’s jolly,
sweet and very active but she also got insecurities and sometimes she’s
pessimistic. But all throughout her experience while hiding to her first love,
Jeong Soon and working at The Most magazine, she was able to develop herself
into a better person. I really love her transformation especially when Jeong
Soon was scolding her and she felt that it will be her motivation to change for
the better despite hard work that she’s doing in the team, she really strived
to be like the “most-like” employee and help the team reach their goal to be
number 1. The series showed how a girl should not be afraid to show herself to
others even though she’s not in to the standards of beauty of her society. The
true beauty comes from the inside, that’s what Kim Hye Jin have, and other
girls have. There’s a lot of things to love about, but you should start to love
yourself first even if others don’t love you.
When it comes to the love part,
the series proved that “first love never dies” from Kim Hye Jin and Ji Seong
Joon’s love story. They really showed what love can do and how the love that
they felt at the first time never change. They also showed love from the
family. How important it is especially when you don’t have someone to lean on
but most importantly, the love from your best friend. I really admire the
friendship between Min Ha Ri and Kim Hye Jin where Hye Jin really cares about
Ha Ri’s feelings especially when she found out that Ha Ri fell in love with
Jeong Soon, but Jeong Soon love Hye Jin and he’s mad at Ha Ri because of how
she pretended to be Kim Hye Jin. Hye Jin tried to save their friendship before
opening her heart to Jeong Soon. I also admire Ha Ri’s sacrifice to make Hye Jin
happy. The most amazing part was how Editor Shin-Hyeok sacrificed for his love
for his Jackson (Hye Jin) and for The Most team.
The series have many wonderful
lessons. It is not just about “first love”, but also the love from the family
and friendship and most especially, love for yourself, that will lead you to
keep on dreaming and make those dreams come true. I will strongly recommend this
series to everyone.
